To Be Determined: 2019
To Be Determined entails themes that include gender identity, sexuality, the body and isolation, while utilizing the deadpan aesthetic. Self-portraiture plays a major role in this project by forcing the gaze upon the artist. In a mix between performance and camera awareness, the photographs emphasize the relationship between the body and the landscape. Within the landscapes, the artist immerses themselves as a way to visit spaces of their past, but as the new person that they have become. A lot of feelings stem from situations in their childhood where they felt alone and like they had no one with whom to talk. This work is a personal narrative through the use of photography as a way to look into the past. Revealed are the relationships they had with the spaces and people closest to them.
